It seems like a typical enthusiast. Remove the side cover, then inspect and hear each fan individually. Is the noise steady throughout operation or only during startup?

Consider restarting without using the side panel and try to pinpoint the noise source. If it remains unclear, check for a fan running slower than others. Should that not help, gently halt each fan—insert a pen into the blades if needed—and observe whether grinding resumes while spinning up.

It seems like the fans are likely running a startup check to verify everything is functioning properly.

I haven't seen it do that before, but I'll stay alert. Thanks to both of you.

People usually wear their gear. Often it's the cheaper options or those that come ready to go. They're not terrible, but they tend to degrade quickly. Right now I'm swapping out my stock fans for Noctua Redux models, mainly because I can afford it and I've got a lot of towers running. I prioritize my time and mental health over the small extra cost. These fans aren't inexpensive, and they're not exciting, but they actually last.
