I assembled my PC some time ago and after a week of inactivity I started experiencing unusual sounds and a strong chemical odor. Right away I powered it down and removed all components. From the smell it seems the power supply unit or the cooling fan might be affected. The setup details include ASUS TUF B550M+ with AMD R7 5800X, Crucial RAM, Zotac RTX 3060, EVGA 850W Gold PSU, and a HDD with NH-D15 drive.

The issue involves a UPS unit. It might be from a CyberPower model, especially if it tends to overheat and catch fire recently. To troubleshoot, remove the power supply from the PC, place it in a safe, non-flammable area, and attempt to restart it. Check for any signs of burning or lingering odor. Examine the UPS thoroughly for damage. If everything appears normal and the PSU is making noise, return it for replacement.

Belkin SurgeMaster shows no signs of overheating. I plan to configure my PC as a basic testing setup using only essential parts and check if it produces a loud noise, since the most noticeable odor came from a fan.
