PC issues are happening often, want to figure out what's causing it.
I've been experiencing problems with my PC crashing frequently over the past month, especially under heavy usage. It only happens when running demanding tasks like gaming, and can start after seconds or last for hours. I can play light games such as League of Legends without issues, but more intense games like Satisfactory, World of Warcraft, Cyberpunk 2077, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider cause problems. Initially, the machine would shut down completely and restart, then after disabling automatic restarts it began showing bluescreen errors with the message "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED." Searching for this issue didn’t yield clear answers. After reinstalling Windows and turning off automatic restarts, the problem shifted to a frozen state—monitors go dark, display artifacts appear, but all lights stay on and fans run normally. No overheating signs were found. The attached log from a crash shows CPU temps between 40-50°C and GPU around 50-60°C. It also breaks my Bluetooth driver each time, requiring reinstallation and multiple power cycles to restore functionality. I've tried various fixes including SFC, DISM, driver updates via DDU, reinstalling Windows, updating BIOS, and running diagnostics (SFC, DISM, MemTest86, SSD tests). Stress tests on GPU and CPU didn’t reproduce the error. Current specs: Ryzen 5900X, RTX 3090, 24GB RAM, G.Skill Neo DDR4, ASUS Rog Strix X570-E, Samsung 970 Evo, Corsair HX850i PSU, and Windows 11 Home 22H2. I've also used Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.
Run memtest to assess your memory. ADJUSTMENT: Consider testing with just two sticks initially.
