PC issue - black screen with no display and green light on motherboard
Hi guys,
I hope you can assist me. This morning I completely shut down my PC and today when I tried to power it back on, the motherboard stayed lit with a 'green light' and showed a 'boot' indicator. However, there was no display, and after a few seconds the monitor started flickering between 'no signal' and 'black screen,' while the fans kept spinning. I don’t know what to do next.
I removed the GPU, cleared the CMOS, took out the CMOS battery, tried installing one RAM stick in each of the four slots, and also disconnected any USB ports or SATA connections, leaving only the NVMe drive. Still, nothing worked. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Asus Prime B550 Plus
RX 7700 XT
PSU: 850W XPG Core Reactor
Ram Silicon Power (16x4)
the mobo remains on 'green light' with the indicator showing 'boot'
this suggests there may be a problem with your boot drive, possibly it has failed or the board's BIOS is damaged. You might want to remove all drives from your system and connect a replacement drive to the board before installing an operating system.
your specifications appear incomplete. could you provide the make and model of your storage? also, do you have a link to your RAM kit if you need help identifying them? you can check the sticker on the side of the RAM stick.
Hey,
here's the
RAM's link
please note these are 8x2, I bought 16x2, however it is the same as the picture (2 sets).
1 NVME Kioxia 256gb
3 HDD / 1Tb Barracuda / 1 Tb Toshiba / 2Tb Barracuda
Edit:
So you mean, my primary storage (NVME) might be corrupted and that's why the PC won't boot? Because I don't have display only a 'black screen' and after a while, I receive 'No signal' and get back on a 'black screen' and again, 'No signal' for some seconds and then stop, but the black screen remain (Waiting to receive an image/response from the GPU, I can see in the corner the LEDs activated in the monitor).
Edit 2:
I think the BIOS is corrupted, if I am not able to access to the Asus BIOS, not even the name displayed or go through the 'boot' as the green light stay on forever...
Guys, quick update.
I've replaced the motherboard and the faulty code still there... I've bought the same motherboard and the 'green light' is always active and there's no display/boot logo...
Not only that, but I'm not sure if the culprit might be the CPU or the Power Supply (850W XPG Core Reactor)....
Edit:
Got some news, guys... I've re-tested it using a different cable (Not HDMI)... And now we got VGA (white light)... So I suppose the culprit is the GPU? Probably, I might need to test another card.
Edit 2:
So, now the PC got the white light on motherboard, no display and after a min or 2, then it shut down itself
Another update...
I've borrowed a GPU (RX 5500XT) from a friend, and the same error code is appearing (White light - VGA)... So... anyone has any suggestions about what might be happening? I'm considering the possibility of the power supply unit.
