I've been using my PC for a while and recently received it back from a friend who was repairing it. I plan to spend around 500 dollars on new components, including a GPU, PSU, case, and possibly a CPU or motherboard (this choice will matter). My old GPU failed completely, and I suspect my RAM might be faulty since it's been acting up. I recently replaced some old RAM from a prebuilt unit, hoping it would at least allow the system to boot. My motherboard is an ASUS RogStrix B450-F, paired with a Ryzen 5 5400G and Vega graphics. The PSU is outdated and seems to have blown up before, so I'm worried about power issues. I went to a trade school for IT but don't remember much. I've tried various fixes and solutions, but I'm unsure what's causing the problems or what to purchase. I don't want to buy something and have another issue, or vice versa. I'm not sure if the problem is just one thing or something more complex. I tried booting without RAM and didn't hear any beeps, but I'm not sure if the system has any audio output for the BIOS. I need guidance to figure this out.

When sharing a troubleshooting thread, it’s important to provide full system details. Please list your build specs clearly:
CPU, CPU cooler, motherboard, RAM, SSD/HDD, GPU, PSU, chassis, OS, monitor.
Include the age of the PSU along with its make and model. Also, note the BIOS version for your motherboard at this time.
You don’t buy parts—you usually get them from friends or neighbors when you need to fix your rig.
i was thinking about upgrading and getting new components, but the psu i have is a silver one from a poor prebuilt, along with the ram that was working when i had my original parts. my cpu is a ryzen 5 5400g, the motherboard is an asus rog strix b54-f gaming, i have a crucial m.2 mx500 and i’m not sure what my bios is, and there’s no graphics card installed yet.
Your initial memory has been updated with the integrated video. That's correct. Please share the complete make and model of your power supply. What model was in use when the components failed? Did the system manage to start again after that event?
my friend found everything, yes i'm just trying to combine random ram and integrated graphics. i don't know the psu model—it's just a cheap silver industrial unit you'd see in a library computer. it lights up a bright orange when i attempt to boot the pc.
Take the case open, examine the PSU. There should be a label with the details. This issue might be connected to your problem, particularly if both the 24-pin and 8-pin motherboard power connectors aren't securely connected and aren't receiving sufficient power.
Go to a tech recycler immediately. That PSU-shaped item is highly likely to harm all your parts.
