PC is stopping from booting due to insufficient RAM with two RAM modules installed.
Hi Guys, I need some help. I bought a MEDION® ERAZER® Engineer P10 in May 2022. Since the start, i upgraded the original (2 x 8gb) ram with my pair of brand new Corsair Vengeance DDR4 (2 x 16 GB) 3200 mhz. I never had any trouble, only Adobe Premiere Pro crashing sometimes. Now, the PC suddenly won't boot anymore, it only boots with 1 ram stick, they work both separately but not together, it doesnt matter in which lane. The PC leds are going on, but there is no signal on my monitor. With 1 stick of RAM, the PC starts perfectly. What i already tried: Reseating CPU and cooler (also the 'looser' technique) Updating BIOS Reseating RAM and trying all lanes BIOS reset (removed battery etc.) My specs: Intel® Core™ i7-12700 Windows 11 Home NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3060 Ti ZOTAC 1 TB PCIe SSD 32 GB DDR4 3200 MHZ RAM (corsair) MEDION B660M DS3H AX DDR4 (U3E1) motherboard (GIGABYTE rebrand) Does anyone have any clue? Many thanks in advance!
The sticks still pass memtest on their own. They function correctly when tested individually. Do you still have the original 2x8?
Yes, both sticks pass memtest. I didn’t have the original 2x8 anymore. The only working memory lane is the second one from the left. (I have 4.) The main RAM slots are 2 and 4 on my motherboard. Only 2 works when tested separately. There seems to be an issue. Can there be a fix, or should I get a new motherboard?
Most boards recommend using slot 2 for a single stick, which doesn’t necessarily clarify the problem. RAM issues usually stem from a loose cooler or damaged pins on the motherboard. Since you’ve checked the cooler and pins remain intact while the PC runs, it’s unlikely the board itself is faulty. You likely didn’t assemble it yourself, so you might want to inspect the CPU packaging. If available, checking the box cooler could help. It seems the socket isn’t bent, though some reports suggest motherboards from the early 2000s can warp under stress.
