It seems your PSU might be underpowered or aging. Check if it’s delivering adequate voltage and consider replacing it for better performance.
I'm using an older model yet it still performs well for both tasks.
The GPU or power supply unit might be the issue, since we can't fully rule out the motherboard even without another GPU for testing. When you mention "won't boot," does the system power on at all? If not, a basic multimeter could help check if the voltage pins on the GPU's PCIe connector are shorting to ground. If it does power on but doesn't start up properly, troubleshooting might require replacing either the PSU or the GPU to identify the exact cause.
It will only start if I fully disconnect the GPU or remove the PCIe cables from it. Once the cables are reconnected, everything functions normally again, though I’m unable to view the screen because my motherboard lacks built-in graphics.
