A bad PSU isn't the cause of flickering lights. The real issue lies with the home's electrical distribution system. During intense usage like playing games, power demand spikes and exposes this problem. You should contact an electrician.
I believe this is the most intriguing computer issue I've encountered in any report so far.
Maybe a more experienced person could explain: how might a short, occasional power reduction lead to frame drops instead of triggering a shutdown or causing more serious system failures?
To OP: if the issue stems from power interruptions, a UPS could theoretically help (though I might be wrong; I haven't used one for anything beyond shipping) by reducing frame drops, provided it's designed for frequent interruptions. However, it's probably best to have someone inspect it as suggested by others.
