PC hangs on Gigabyte's loading display
A few months back I set up a home server for XCP-ng with several virtual machines. It operated continuously for about four months until I had to relocate it. Now it just beeps once after the POST and then gets stuck on the Gigabyte splash screen. I can't even access UEFI or the boot menu (except a few unsuccessful attempts).
Specs:
- CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X
- GPU: Intel Arc B580
- RAM: 2x Samsung M391A4G43BB1-CWEQ 32GB
- Storage: Gigabyte B550M Aorus Elite
- PSU: Corsair RM850x
What I've tried:
- Tested both RAM sticks in all positions
- Disconnected everything except power, keyboard, and monitor
- Reset CMOS
- Updated UEFI settings
- Removed storage drives
- Booted from USB with Windows
- Swapped the motherboard (same model, new board)
- Possibly other unknown factors affecting graphics support
I'm running out of ideas. I don't know what might be causing this problem. Any suggestions?
It seems you're asking about accessing the UEFI even if settings aren't uniform. You mentioned turning off the splash screen and whether you tested one RAM stick at a time.
Clear the CMOS settings. Disconnect all hardware components except essential ones. (For example) leave only one RAM stick connected. Power off all external and internal drives. If a backup GPU is available, swap it in. Launch the BIOS interface. Proceed by adding hardware pieces individually until the system stops responding, then identify the faulty component.
