I pressed Restart to update Windows. It kept looping through restarting without ending, taking more than 40 minutes. Eventually, I turned it off using the power button and restarted manually. Once that happened, the update completed in just a second, and everything worked normally. Still curious about what caused this issue.

Windows update versions have been problematic for some time. I've faced similar problems and then lost my post during installation. My system would automatically restart in the middle of the night, leaving me with a blank screen. After trying to restart, Windows Update failed. Even after another restart, it didn't work. Beyond that, the main point... I ended up installing Windows 10 instead. If you need a stable system, the only option is to disable updates.
