pc games and reviews
I mainly rely on the steam client, but I also use the epic, gog, blizzard and origin clients. There are several aspects in PC games that bother me.
1. Software companies often release games in alpha, beta or early access versions, offering them at a discounted price. They mention that the games might crash, which justifies the lower cost. Even though we can purchase them at a special price, it feels unfair to be treated like unpaid bug hunters. A drawback here is that with steam, you can request a refund if you own the game for less than two weeks and used it for under two hours. However, be careful—some players have reported that excessive refund requests might lead to being turned down.
2. Before purchasing a game, I check reviews and am often surprised by the volume of negative feedback for popular titles. In fact, I have avoided buying certain games due to numerous crash reports. Occasionally, I dismiss the bad reviews and still manage to play the game without issues.?
3. It confuses me why some games, whether old or new, fail to run on certain systems. My machine cost £3,000, yet gamers with better configurations report being unable to play a game I used without issues. I’ve also seen players with lower specifications than mine successfully run the same titles.
4 One person complained about a game, so I suggested lowering some settings, like the frame rate. Can you really notice the difference between 100 and 120 fps? I can’t!
The other person simply replied that I didn’t want to adjust anything and reiterated that the game was terrible.
Regarding how much you can tweak settings to ease the demands on your system, it’s impressive how much you can adjust in a game to reduce strain. However, some players stubbornly refuse to make changes.
As for why certain games don’t work on some systems, a developer mentioned that all their machines were identical to minimize programming risks. They claimed that for no clear reason, one of their machines would fail to perform as expected.
