PC frequently shuts down and restarts.
During every benchmark I run, the PC would shut down and restart. It’s odd that I can play CSGO, but when I open my inventory it does the same thing. The Event Viewer doesn’t provide any details. I just rebuilt my PC yesterday. The only changes I made in the BIOS were to enable XMP with boost200s.
Motherboard - Asus Z890 Apex Maximus
CPU - Ultra 285K
GPU - Aurora 5090 ICE OC (Updated drivers before this post with DDU)
RAM - G.SKILL Trident Z5 DDR5 RAM 48GB 8200MT/s CL40-52-52-131 1.35V (Using XMP with Boost200s; ran memtest for a few hours last night with no errors)
PSU - be quiet! Dark Power Pro 13 1600W
AIO - ASUS ROG RYUYJIN III 360 ARGB Extreme
M.2 - Crucial T705 (1 in m.2.1, m.2.2, and one in the dim slot to accommodate 16 lanes for the GPU)
When the PC shuts down it doesn't necessarily happen instantly; it can resemble a power cut followed by a restart. The Event Viewer might indicate what was occurring just before the shutdown. My assumption is the power supply unit is experiencing a problem. Inspect the 12V2x6 connector on the graphics card for any signs of melting.
Yes, it immediately stops and then restarts. "The system has rebooted without a smooth shutdown initially. This problem might stem from the system failing to respond, crashing, or losing power unexpectedly." Is what the event viewer reports. I also changed the connector to another one, but the issue remains unchanged. The old cable isn't visibly melted or broken, so I replaced it anyway.
I think the PSU might be having problems. If you have a functioning one, try it on your PC. You might want another one for testing. It seems the PSU is likely faulty. Bequiet! There are many good PSUs, and everyone makes a bad one sometimes. I’d consider buying a second of the same model if you still want to test it. Can you return the first one to the retailer for a refund or exchange?
I've been using this PSU for around two years. I can get another identical one, but I won't be able to receive it from Amazon for a while.
I am looking for an alternative option that offers better availability and a solid 1Kw+ PSU from a store where returns are possible. I would also initiate the RMA process with Bequiet! once it's confirmed that the problem lies with your current PSU. If something similar is available to you.
