PC freezes randomly
I believe this issue began when I started using two monitors with Adaptive Sync enabled in the first one. I'm still testing and exploring different situations, but this seems to be the most likely reason since my previous setup was without issues. I’ll outline the differences between the old and new builds later.
Now let's discuss the situation:
It occurs sporadically, mostly when I’m not engaged in any gaming. For instance, while watching videos or browsing the web.
When the computer freezes, I can still hear audio, but I’m unable to use my keyboard, mouse, or microphone until I forcefully shut down the PC via the power button on the case.
Some instances where it happened:
- Streaming a video through Discord in my browser
- Playing LoL (League of Legends) with alt-tabbed open
- Opening the file explorer to send an image on Discord
- Turning on sleep mode
I’ve tried numerous solutions that didn’t work:
- Switched GPUs: from Nvidia 2070 Super to 3070 then 4070
- Changed power supply unit
- Updated RAM
- Checked Event Viewer for errors (no clear result)
- Ran MemTest on RAM
- Installed new drivers (monitor, chipset, BIOS)
- Disabled unused audio outputs (Nvidia audio on monitors)
- Replaced hardware by unplugging and swapping PSU connectors
- Performed a full OS clean install
- Connected the PSU directly to the outlet
- Purchased a new G-Sync compatible monitor because initially I thought the issue was with AMD Freesync using an Nvidia card (the problem also occurred with that setup)
