PC freezes or shuts down during gaming? (Images and videos attached)
My PC becomes unresponsive during these two games: CSGO and DOTA 2. Other applications function normally and last for extended periods without issues. I've observed that the LED showing disk activity shuts off whenever the system freezes. This issue appears unpredictably, occurring regardless of whether I increase the CPU frequency. The images below capture the freeze during a CSGO session. The mouse light stays on, power LED remains active, but the HDD indicator turns off. This problem occurs randomly and works even after overclocking. Specs: CPU – Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core, Cooler – CRYORIG R1 Universal 76.0 CFM, Motherboard – Asus Z170 PRO GAMING ATX LGA1151, RAM – G.Skill Ripjaws V 8GB (2x4GB), DDR4-2400, Storage – Intel 530 Series 240GB SSD, HDD – Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB, 3.5", Video Card – Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 4GB, Case – Cooler Master HAF 912, Power Supply – SeaSonic S12II 620W, Windows 10 Pro, Wi-Fi adapter – TP-Link TL-WN881ND.
Check the load temperatures and the CrystaldiskInfo status. If any message differs from "OK," it indicates a problem and you should replace the drive.
Temperatures hover near 40°C during operation, drop to 30°C when idle. Attempted using CrystaldiskInfo; all drives reported "Good."
Win 7 was targeting me, and the issue stemmed from the MS antimalware bugcheck. I had to force a hard boot and turn it off completely. It happened unexpectedly.
The games are using an SSD or a HDD. Have you attempted to play them on a different drive than the one they're installed on?
It's operating on the traditional hard drive. I've attempted to reinstall it on the SSD temporarily, but there are minor stutters in these two applications. I've run defragmentation, checked the disk health, performed a system repair with sfc/scannow, and reformatted the drive, yet the issue persists.
