I’ve been experiencing this issue for about two years now, and it hasn’t gone away even after upgrading from a GTX 1060 to a 1070. Here’s my system information:

i5 6600k (overclocked to 4.2GHz, but the problem persists regardless of whether I enable or disable the overclock)
Asus Z170M-Plus
Zotac GTX 1070 Mini (upgrade from a Zotac 1060 Amp)
12GB Corsair 2133mhz RAM
Kingston A1000 480GB SSD (for boot drive)
HyperX Fury 120gb SSD
Seagate Barracuda 500GB HDD

The freezes are difficult to consistently reproduce, but they happen at least twice a week, sometimes multiple times within the same day. When it freezes, I can access the desktop and open Task Manager, but Task Manager itself is frozen and unresponsive. A hard reset is required to resolve it, and there aren’t any related errors logged in the Event Viewer. I don't believe it’s a graphics card issue because the problem occurs with both cards, and I’ve installed games on both my HDD and SSD. I’ve even reinstalled Windows, but the issue persists.

Yes so it is never a good idea to mix and match ram. I would pull the third stick and see if your problem goes away as a troubleshooting step. Also on the afterburner module, in the left upper corner there is a tab that has OC on it. You can use that and afterburner will do self tests and try to set the best settings for your system automatically. It takes about ten minutes or so so don't be impatient and stop it. Let it do its thing and see if that helps.

The system scan revealed no issues. I’m running with a 750W PSU and the latest BIOS version.

Does it only happen when gaming? It's helpful to see if the issue is related to high temperatures – could you run a program like CPU-Z or HWMonitor to check your CPU and graphics card temperature while playing games or doing other tasks? That way we can get a better idea of what’s going on.

During gaming, particularly titles like Overwatch and Destiny 2, my CPU temperatures remain stable at around 74°C while the graphics card maxes out at 80°C to prevent excessive noise. I don’t use any monitoring tools, but I believe the 500W, 80+ Bronze power supply is sufficient for this setup.

I’ve run SFC scannow, Windows Memory Checker, memtest86+, and updated all my drivers and BIOS to the latest version. My power supply unit is 500W and appears to be functioning correctly; several of my friends are also using the same one without any problems.

I don’t understand what you mean by setting the maximum temperature to 80. Are you referring to a BIOS setting? If so, I'm going to increase it to 90 and check if that resolves the freezing issue.

I’ve been using MSI Afterburner to adjust settings, and I’ve tried sliding the bar to its maximum setting, but it keeps freezing up.

Gotcha. If you disconnect the Seagate, does the problem go away?
Anything un common with the games mentioned (installed on the same drive, all from the same service, etc) vs the ones that aren't?
