PC fans operate properly only when they're not attached to the motherboard.
Hello everyone. I have a functional build and am attempting to upgrade the fans. I currently use Asus ex-b150m-v3 I7 7700 ROG Rtx 3060 OC12gb, which works well with basic 3-pin case fans that are recognized in BIOS. I'm planning to switch to Corsair RWF0041 RGB fans (non-RGB) but they don’t spin and aren’t detected in BIOS when connected via the chassis fan plugin on the motherboard. However, once I connect them through a fan splitter and power it from the PSU, all three fans operate at full speed. Someone might know why this happens?
Some Corsair enthusiasts joke about PWM settings. Others back Zero RPM and might misinterpret a weak PWM output. The ARGB value should be 5V, not 12V, so avoid that error. It's usually easier to get the Commander TBH model. This update helps with a few common issues. Edited September 9, 2022 by An0maly_76 Updated with more details
You'll likely need to adjust the bios settings, changing the header to PWM instead of DC.
Reviewed the BIOS settings—header was already configured for PWM. Disabling PWM causes the fan to run at full speed, yet when PWM remains active, the fan still doesn’t turn on. Could indicate an issue with the MOBO.
