PC fails to upload data with RAM placed in incorrect DIMM positions.
Recently I switched to dual channel memory instead of the single channel originally installed. The MOBO manual recommended using DIMM slots A2 and B2, which I followed. However, my PC started failing when posting. To test, I installed the new kit in A1 and B1, which resolved the issue. For confirmation, I tried using a single stick in A2—the same slot as before—and posted successfully. After that, I returned the kit to A2 and B2, assuming everything was fine, but failed to post again. This suggests a potential problem with slot B2. Now that my PC is working, I’m wondering if enabling DOCP and overclocking RAM would be safe to achieve the speeds it supports, despite not fitting in the recommended slots. I’m still learning about PC components and this seems like a tricky area.
You might face issues, but consider slightly adjusting the voltage to see if it resolves the problem.
