I changed from an i3-7100 to an i5-9600KF, but the system won't start. The fans stop spinning right away. I'm certain it's due to the CPU—reversing the chips several times didn't help. I've updated the BIOS and reset the CMOS, yet it still doesn't work. I'm really worried it might not function at all and don't know what to do next.

Note: Motherboard model is Acer GX-781 (KBL).

Verify your motherboard's compatible CPU options, as it will only include 6XXX and 7XXX series. Intel has made many mistakes by using the same socket for different generations.

I thought the "supported components" section was frequently missing and not current, just a few suggestions. Ugh, I can't believe this... It's really bad. I really hope they accept my return.

It doesn't apply when it comes to CPUs. Other aspects will matter, but CPUs will never be reliable.

The pin configuration inside the socket varies depending on their function—such as voltage, ground, etc. A Socket 1151 contains 1151 pins, which serves as a foundation for the chip design but isn't uniform across all pins. For optimal compatibility, it's recommended to use a different, compatible board if possible.

It's not overly confusing. I covered the fundamentals in my previous post, and I updated the pin functions with these new chips. For instance, a pin meant for grounding V1 is now handling power V2. Even though the chip count (1151) and the size remained the same, some pins changed their roles. That's why your device shuts down immediately when you press the power button—your system identifies a short and initiates a hard restart to safeguard itself. This adjustment was likely pushed by Intel to boost chip sales, allowing board manufacturers to follow suit at production.
