PC fails to start despite PSU return request
Hey there. A few months back while playing Baldurs Gate 3, my PC suddenly shut down. I restarted it but nothing changed. I took out the power supply and sent it in for a replacement. They found the PSU was bad and gave me a new one (RM1000e). After installing it, I tried to boot again but kept getting into the BIOS without finding the boot drive. I also installed a fresh Windows install on a thumb drive, but even that didn’t work. Now the screen flickers between a very dark black and then back to black. Any suggestions could help? I have an old boot drive ready for testing this weekend.
Try obtaining another PSU more than once. It seems some businesses frequently return faulty items after an RMA. The problem might range from bad RAM to issues with the motherboard. Experiment with different RAM setups or configurations to see if it resolves the issue.
Two possible fixes for your PSU issue are the RMA process on the main board or the secondary board—either might resolve the problem, though it seems the secondary board is more likely to help.
Damaged PSU might affect other components. Consider a BIOS reset. Test with one RAM module at a time. Switch to a different GPU. It seems like the issue could be a loose connection or something similar.
