I upgraded my RAM from 16 to 32GB before heading to university in the UK. I opted for used RAM because they’re usually reliable. After installation, the BIOS reported four 8GB DDR4 sticks, but the total listed was only 16GB. System info showed 32GB installed yet only 16GB usable. Task manager also displayed the discrepancy. I checked online and found that adjusting the RAM limit in msconfig might help, but it was already set low. Updating the BIOS to prepare for Windows 11 seemed like a possibility, so I did that too. After the update, the PC restarted but failed to boot—only the fans spun. The Wraith Spire cooler light stopped working, and the display went dark. I tried resetting CMOS, shorting CLRTC pins, and removing the CMOS battery, but neither fixed it. Now the fans are running but nothing appears on screen. With only 24 hours left, I’m desperate. If I can’t resolve this, I might have to replace the motherboard entirely, as my CPU is over four years old. If that’s not an option, please share any advice you have.

Did you attempt to run with just one RAM module?

Use one of your existing RAM modules and reset the motherboard via the CMOS pins or by removing the battery briefly. You might also attempt to re-flash the BIOS using ASUS Flashback at the provided link.

I've already attempted to reset the CMOS pin and removed the battery, now I'm trying the RAM.

Consider using another system to place the BIOS file on a USB drive, then connect it and restart your PC. It should attempt to restore the BIOS settings. If this doesn’t work, you might need to return the board for repair through RMA, though I’m unsure if a corrupted BIOS is covered under warranty.

If it doesn't work, use the USB approach. It's compatible with both the newest and older BIOS versions.

Prime B350-Plus doesn’t allow BIOS flashback. It seems warranty chances are low for a four-year-old motherboard.

Do you have any suggestions? I used the 1 RAM setup and the CPU fan turned on at first, which was encouraging, but it didn’t boot or enter BIOS. I reset the BIOS again by taking out the battery and this time the fan stayed off. The latest BIOS is installed, though I can still get an older one working, but I’m unsure how to boot from a USB without going through BIOS. The ASUS Flashback feature isn’t available on my motherboard either—I tried it and it didn’t help. I’m really stuck and need some help.

It might help to replace the CPU. That's not possible.

You managed to start up successfully using the original RAM setup. Great job!
