Hey,
A few nights ago I pushed my i5 4690k to 4.2ghz at 1.175v and it performed well in games and rendering. Last night I started a Prime95 blend test overnight and left it running. In the morning I noticed the system was fine, stopped the process, and saw temperatures reaching around 82 degrees on the motherboard. I turned off the PC and tried to boot it. Now I can’t see anything on the screen.

I reset the CMOS and managed to get it to boot with integrated graphics on my TV. I tested each RAM stick individually and everything worked. Then I reinstalled the graphics card and all the RAM, but nothing appeared again. Even when using the GPU, integrated graphics still didn’t show anything.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. It seems like the issue is happening intermittently—maybe my GPU just stopped working by chance.
Thanks
Sam

That’s the idea I’m considering next. I was able to start it, but it fails to boot nine times out of ten. My existing PSU is an EVGA 650 GQ. Is this a problematic unit?

So I changed the PSU but the problem remains—the system only starts when the RAM amount shifts. Either removing the stick and restarting or putting it back always works. That jump-in-jumper is pretty costly 😂

It must definitely be the motherboard; it’s unlikely you harmed the CPU since you checked temperatures before going to sleep.
