When I power on the PC it starts posting, loads windows, but the monitor fails to receive an HDMI signal. Windows responds when asked, which is why I can see it work in safe mode. After removing the drivers for the 5600 XT in safe mode it boots normally. However, after a short while it plays the "device disconnected" alert and again loses the HDMI connection. Once back in safe mode, the device manager still shows the GPU as (Rx 5600 XT) suggesting the driver was reinstalled. I’m confident this isn’t a hardware problem since I’ve tried all troubleshooting steps and temperatures are normal. Pressing Ctrl+Win+Shift+B doesn’t help. VID_20230130_155442_1_1_1_1.mp4

Turn off automatic driver setup in the start menu. Remove and uninstall the existing driver, paying attention to its version that’s causing issues. Reinstall an older AMD driver from the download page, if possible.

@RiffTheRaff suggested a good approach. I’d also remove the existing graphics driver and all connected files with DDU. Once that’s complete, switch to AMD Adrenalin for installing the latest drivers instead of using the Windows Update, which often delivers outdated or incorrect versions.

It seems the hardware device is disconnecting, which isn't typical for a video driver. A driver problem usually turns off the device rather than disconnecting it. Verify your GPU power cable, 20/24 pin power cable, and ensure your PSU matches your build specs.

Sorry to hear that. I also attempted DDU as suggested by @SpookyCitrus, but it didn’t help. I’ve also looked for loose connections and re-seated components several times. It’s not a high-power setup, so it should function properly with my PSU. Updated on Jan 30, 2023 by Delta-c-tech

It seems the main possibility is a faulty GPU. The steps were taken initially since these AMD models are often linked to driver problems. You can only try another GPU in the system and if it works, either replace or return the 5600XT.

Sure, I'll attempt to reinstall Windows to check for problems. However, if it's a defect, that's fine. I was planning to upgrade most of the system anyway.
