I assembled the system using an Intel i511th gen MSI Z590 gaming edge motherboard with an 1060 6GB RAM and a 980 Pro. About ten minutes ago everything worked well. I had to install Windows 11 onto a USB drive, but the PC shut down unexpectedly. I removed an M.2 slot that didn’t have the OS installed, then after reinstalling the 980 Pro, it recognized the drive and started booting normally from BIOS. What happened?

It seems you're wondering if the system was set up with two M.2 drives and whether they were installed on the device you just took out.

I had two, I removed one, the one without the boot files, then it identifies it in the BIOS but then prompts to install the boot drive upon restart.
