Hello, recently I tried to turn my PC on but instead of starting up, I received three long beeps. The day before I encountered an error for using too much VRAM while playing two games simultaneously, and my output stopped working. After rebooting, the issue disappeared. The RAM lights came on and everything started spinning, but nothing else happened. Online I read that those three beeps indicate a RAM problem, but I replaced another module without fixing it. My system runs Windows 10, purchased in December 2020, and I haven’t updated the BIOS since then. Specifications: 420W PSU MSI A320M, mainboard Nvidia GeForce 1650, 4GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 7 2700, Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 2x16GB at 3200MHz. No overclocking has been done.
If the RAM is 99% free of issues, I’d begin by checking another motherboard. Before switching to a new one, I’d also replace the PSU with something offering more power and possibly higher efficiency. I’m assuming you didn’t specify the PSU model, so I’d change it to a generic alternative, then the motherboard.
Have you attempted removing one of the sticks to check for a post? I’ve encountered cases where on an MSI A320M, a Dimm slot failure triggered a 3-beep code. Additionally, I’ve experienced CPU resets where a customer moved their machine and the CPU shifted, leading to similar beep issues.
Are there alternative methods to verify the setup? I only have a fitting RAM kit and don’t have time to test a spare PSU or mainboard.
