PC experiences occasional freezes during gaming despite maintaining a high frame rate.
So around two weeks ago I observed that my PC would suddenly freeze for less than half a second during gameplay. Initially, I believed it was just related to the specific game I was running, but when I tried different titles, the brief freezes persisted. It appears the issue happens even when the game is running in the background while using a browser, etc.
I’m not sure what’s causing it, but I suspect it might be linked to the CPU. The frequency of freezing increases with higher load, and the temperatures aren’t high enough to indicate overheating.
I’ve searched online for possible fixes, but nothing has been effective so far. It’s really frustrating. All the help I’ve received has been minimal. Thank you!
My specifications:
AMD Ryzen 7 3700x
ASUS ROG RTX 3070 TI
Gskill Trident Z Neo 32gb 3600mhz (also tried with older RAM)
ASUS ROG B550-E
Corsair RM750 PSU
Windows 10
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Which BIOS version is installed on your motherboard? If there’s an update available, flash it and then reset the CMOS. Verify if your operating system also needs updates.
After that, consider using DDU to remove all GPU drivers, then reinstall manually with the newest driver from Nvidia’s support site via an elevated command—Right click installer > Run as Administrator.
The temperatures seem normal, so overheating shouldn’t be an issue.
What is your case model? How many fans does it have, and what are their orientations?
This is the RAM module. My BIOS version is 3404, and it's the most recent one. There are no pending OS updates either. I plan to try DDU later.
The case is a Cooler Master Mastercase H500P Mesh, with two fans in the front, three on top, and one at the back.
The issue also appeared suddenly. Two weeks ago I didn't experience any freezing problems and everything was functioning properly.
I used DDU without any changes, just updated my GPU drivers. I also observed occasional freezes in The Division 2, about once every minute, but more frequent freezes occurred during tougher games like The Finals. I installed MSI Afterburner to track freeze events. When it worked, my frame time increased and Power, W dropped noticeably during freezes. Does Power, W refer to power from the PSU? Could that indicate a failing PSU?
I just completed a benchmark and everything worked smoothly, with no stuttering or freezes. The stuttering appears only when I move my camera in the game, not consistently.
