PC experiences frequent crashes and halts image generation upon linking to a TV.
Hello everyone, I recently purchased a new 4K HDR TV and linked it to my PC via the other two monitors (1440p and 1080p). Whenever I connect the TV or try to display content in 4K HDR, my PC takes a long time—sometimes a minute—to adapt. The output either shows only parts of the last frame or appears completely black. The TV also occasionally warns me to "check the power" of my device, which resolves after reinserting the HDMI cable. One (really frustrating) workaround I tried is copying the content to the lower-resolution monitors, which seems to improve performance. My system details: Windows 10 Pro 22H2, 8GB MSI, GeForce RTX 2080 GAMING X TRIO, PCIe 3.0 x16, 32GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, 850W power supply.
What’s the best way forward? Is my setup too slow to manage all three monitors smoothly? Are there solutions that don’t require costly hardware upgrades?
