PC emits odd sounds during startup.
Hello everyone, I’m just starting to navigate these forums, even though I’m 21. I’m not sure if this issue is already discussed, but I think it’s a pretty unique one. A few hours ago, I swapped in my GT 1030 2GB GDDR5 for the old GTX 550 Ti. Once I powered it up, I heard a short beep, then a longer one followed by three short beeps. The screen stayed on continuously, but didn’t move at all from its original position (pressing ESC to...). Regarding my keyboard, after the first beep, it refused to respond even though I could press CAPS LOCK and other keys. My setup includes: CPU – Intel i7 2600 3.4GHz, GPU – GT 1030 2GB GDDR5, RAM – 4x2GB, PSU – not specified, 450W (just checking), SSD – Kingston 120GB, HDD – Seagate 500GB. If anyone has advice or insights, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks for your help! Edited February 29, 2024 by Djuri02
This appears to be a diagnostic code. Identify the motherboard model, consult its user guide for interpretation, and consider reinstalling the GPU and RAM if necessary.
You’ve already tried the suggested fixes. I replaced my RAM and cleaned it with rubber. My GPU was also reseated, though I didn’t clean it. I’ll list the motherboard name soon; I only have its AMI BIOS. If that’s useful, the HP Pavillion case might help.
