PC Crashes Within Seconds, Occasionally After 20-30 Seconds Of Cleaning
Hi everyone, I cleaned my PC thoroughly, including the power supply unit, and put everything back together exactly as it was. But now when I press the power button, the machine powers on for a brief moment and then turns off. Sometimes it stays on for 20-30 seconds before shutting down again. I tested the PSU by connecting it directly, and it works without issues. When I try to restart after it powers off, it doesn’t respond unless I keep pressing the power button for 10-15 seconds. The GPU light is on, showing it’s receiving power. I also removed the motherboard from the case and connected all parts outside, but the problem continues. Anyone know what might be causing this? Your help would be really appreciated.
I employed a vacuum cleaner, a hair dryer set to cold air, and cleaned it using an alcohol-based cloth.
Confirm the cables thoroughly, examine and reattach parts such as the GPU, RAM, CPU, and all connections. Reinitialize CMOS. Run the PC out of its case onto a cardboard box for testing. Use a vacuum cleaner and be aware of static buildup, which can damage components. Although rare, this is possible. Also, some vacuums generate moisture and excessive heat, which may not be ideal for motherboards. For future tests, consider using compressed air.
It's tough to hear that something important was damaged, but don't worry you're not alone. You might want to check another power supply first to confirm the issue. You can find replacements locally, and if it doesn't work there, just return it and mention it didn't fit. If another PSU doesn't solve the problem, it's probably time to replace the motherboard.
