Hey there, I recently had to lower my OC to 5GHz on my i7 7700K. Once I did that, the whole PC would freeze and I had to restart it completely. It works fine when I turn the 5GHz back on. I've been trying to troubleshoot since last night but haven't found a solution. I've stripped it down to the basics, tested all different RAM slots, cleaned the PC to check for dust or debris, but I'm stuck. I'm not sure if I should go buy a new CPU/motherboard or not, and I don’t have much money right now.

Likely unstable power (ripples) remains until enhanced with additional voltage.

In the BIOS, when you reset to default settings after restoring optimization, it still freezes.

That's correct, what I was attempting to achieve works only when factory settings are applied. It crashes within five minutes after turning it on. I also tried replacing the CMOS battery.

Does your motherboard feature a Q flash for flashing the MOBO via USB without a CPU? If yes, I might attempt to use another BIOS version and try once more. With the CPU removed, a fresh BIOS update should reset the OC and potentially restore functionality.
