Okay so the 'Modern' control panel on my PC will not open, clicking the button yields nothing whatsoever - and as a few important things can only be done in the modern control panel, This is quite a big deal. Anyone else had this problem? If so - How do you fix it? Google gave me some suggestions but none worked, If all else fails hopefully this 'Update 1' will fix it...

When setting up a new account, it functions there. No registry cleaner or system tweak tools were needed on Windows.

I didn't alter any shortcuts. Try running the command prompt, press Ctrl+X, choose Command Prompt (Admin), and enter "SFC /SCANNOW". It might need a few attempts to resolve all issues.

I'll attempt to set up a new account via the command prompt in a moment—you’ll need the updated control panel to do this. The shortcut is located in the 'Charms' section; I’m not sure if you can delete it. I’m trying to use the scan feature—this isn’t something I’ve seen before. Thanks!

Verify your Windows 8.1 installation is authentic. Any modifications may prevent PC settings from functioning correctly after certain updates.

I often can't locate anything in the PC settings. I usually have to search online for the exact thing I need, just to find someone who's navigated the long, tricky process to reach it.

It's truly genuine. It functioned even after the update to 8.1; it's a recent improvement. Although it has some issues, it's necessary for various purposes.

FIXED!! It's unclear what the command did, but it's now working properly—I didn't need to restart at all! Thanks!!!

Are you sure? It seems to outperform the previous Control Panel. The only thing lacking is the option for third-party additions. Perhaps Windows 9? You might also find it useful to search within it.
