PC case USB ports affecting your external drive installation
Windows 10 has two USB 3.0 ports at the top front of your case, connecting to the motherboard's USB 3.0 socket. These ports function properly for most devices except your 5TB Seagate external hard drive, which needs a specific USB 3.0 A to Micro B cable. The drive works in all other ports and on any other computer, regardless of version. However, when connected to either front port, file transfers freeze, corrupt, or become unreadable, causing errors and preventing repairs. Scanning for errors fails, and reformatting is necessary. After reformatting, the drive works correctly, but attempting transfers still leads to corruption. The issue appears to be with the front USB ports themselves.
