Hey, I'm totally new at making these posts so sorry if I messed up with the rules or didn't post where I should. I recently got a whole brand new computer set up minus a new graphics card and moved all my hard drives to it, including the one that holds my operating system. Things worked okay for most things except two or three games I couldn't play because the computer would lock completely shut. I just kind of decided to live with this problem, but now instead of the game crashing when playing it randomly, I'm getting blue screen errors every few days. The monitor goes out and the picture gets messed up. Coincidentally, the error in Event Viewer is the same error that happens when the computer locks: Error 41 says Kernel Power Keywords are (70368744177664) and (2). I don't know how to fix this on my own because I think it's probably a USB driver issue but I can't figure out which one. Here is the minidump file in case anyone can use it: 071923-13328-01.dmp

That's pretty much 100% the cause of your problem right now. You can't expect a Windows computer set up on one machine to work perfectly on another. When you turn on Windows, it sets things up just for what hardware is there. It might not be tuned well enough for new equipment. Plus, all the device drivers that came with your old PC are only for the old devices. There won't be any drivers for the new ones installed either. If you build or buy a brand new computer, you have to wipe it clean and install Windows again. Nothing pops up in this dump about why. The error message was "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". That usually means a third-party driver is broken. This happened while your computer tried to read from storage. Because you used an OS drive that came from a completely different PC, the drivers probably didn't match and caused the crash. You need to clean install Windows onto this new computer.

Sorry, the internet was down for a few days here. I'll fix my computer with a clean Windows install soon. Just wondering, if this error happened on my PC, does it tell me exactly where the storage access failed from? Like, could it be because of a bad hard drive or something similar?

Here is a quick update: I fixed the problem by reinstalling Windows, and now I'm still getting error messages called kmode exception or not handled bluescreen errors. Even after cleaning up my computer and installing new drivers for everything, the issue is back. Here are two crash reports in case someone can help me figure this out:

Did you install ALL drivers when you reinstalled Windows? Device Manager shows nothing with a yellow triangle containing a back exclamation mark? If all drivers are installed, the two error reports suggest there might be a RAM problem. The 0x1E bugcheck failed because of an exception code of 0xC0000005, which means memory access was wrong. This happened while the kernel processed a thread wait list in memory. The 0xA bugcheck failed while the kernel deleted a transitional page table entry in memory. I suggest you test your RAM by downloading Memtest86 (free), use the imageUSB.exe tool extracted from the download to make a bootable USB drive containing Memtest86 (1GB is plenty big enough), and then boot that USB drive. If no errors were found after four iterations of the 13 different tests that the free version does, restart Memtest86 and do another four iterations.

Memtest gave me one error on the first check, but no errors after that. One thing is a fail though. I'm using my RAM with the XMP profile turned on. What should I do? Should I turn off XMP to see if that fixes it, or will my speed go down? Or maybe I need new RAM instead? Is changing out of RAM the best choice here?

One mistake is a failure, right? Turning off XMP might fix things, but only if you weren't pushing the RAM too hard. If you were running it at its official speed limit, I wouldn't want to keep using that stick anyway. Even though turning off XMP could hide the issue, if the memory doesn't work with the maker's rules, I think you should swap it out for a new one.

I had the default XMP settings turned on right away from the box. So far so good since day one of using my new PC, no crashes yet. Did I push it too hard? No, I just used what came with the package. The default XMP said voltage at 1.25 volts. That feels a bit high for DDR5 RAM, but I didn't know much about overclocking or changing voltages so I trusted the settings. I turned that off and got one crash before yesterday, but today there have been no issues. I'm not playing games right now just doing light stuff. I bought new RAM tomorrow and will let you know if things get weird again after a few days when I swap out the old parts.

So I put in the new RAM today, turned on XMP, and about two hours later froze again. No blue screen this time, so no error code or minidump file to check out. I don't know what could be causing it, but here are my PC specs: CPU: 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-13700K Mobo: ASUS ROG Strix Z790-E Gaming WiFi RAM: DOMINATOR® PLATINUM RGB 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 DRAM 5600MT/s CL40 Memory Kit (This is the brand new kit I bought) PSU: Corsair HX Series, HX1200, 1200 Watt, Fully Modular Power Supply, 80+ Platinum Certified, Model Number: CP-9020140-NA GPU: Gigabyte RTX 2080 Super As part of the troubleshooting, I've updated my motherboard BIOS's, re-installed Windows, re-installed all my drivers, and replaced my RAM. I'm starting to suspect that maybe the motherboard is the issue? EDIT: I also have this entire rig plugged into a UPS: CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS System, 1500VA/1000W, 12 Outlets, AVR, Mini Tower

I'm still having a problem even after I turned off XMP settings. Now I am pretty sure that one of my memory sticks is broken and making things happen. But I don't know for sure. There probably isn't much anyone can do to help right now, but I thought I'd post this here just in case.
