You're experiencing a common issue with VSync settings in modern games. It seems turning VSync can cause frame rate drops, making your gameplay appear choppy. If you disable it, the performance improves but may lack smoothness. This is often a balance between stability and visual quality. Let me know if you'd like more details!

It might indicate a v-sync issue rather than a capping problem. On an Nvidia graphics card, checking the control panel for v-sync settings could reveal further details.

I don't own an NVIDIA, but I used to have an AMD system.

Adjust the settings to Boarderless Window with Vsync disabled in the game. Ensure your Nvidia control panel displays at 144 Hz or similar. In Boarderless Fullscreen, frame rates range from 170 to 230 FPS. When using alt-tab for streaming (like Streamlabs), it drops to around 15 FPS. Uncertain why, but it works well in focus. After initial struggles, it became manageable once I enabled the FPS counter and stuck at 60 Hz in Fullscreen despite the setting.
