PC began failing after trying various RAM configurations.
Hello everyone, here’s what I’ve been going through with my old RAM. I used those DDR4 sticks from a previous build (HyperX Fury Red, 2x8GB, 2400MHz). I wanted to see if they still functioned after selling them. One stick stopped working completely—my PC restarted three times before it wouldn’t boot at all. I checked which one was faulty so I could try selling the working one.
Later, when I reinstalled my other RAM (G.Skill Rip Jaws V, 2x8GB, 3600MHz), my system began blue-screening with a WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR message. It would crash every 30 to 40 minutes. I tried updating the BIOS (not the latest version), clearing CMOS, re-seating the RAM, but nothing resolved it.
I disabled DOCP and set the RAM speed to 3200MHz, which helped a little but eventually caused freezing. I also noticed my CPU was stuck at 3.7–4.5MHz while idle (DOCP enabled) and would jump up to 4.2MHz with minimal usage (DOCP off).
After running memtest86, the RAM passed all tests. Stressing the CPU with Cinebench R34 for 10 minutes gave a solid score of 9,722. So far, my PC runs smoothly without crashes. I’m puzzled about why it started acting this way—just trying different RAMs to see what works best. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
