I constructed my computer a few years back, and for roughly a year it would freeze during basic operations (signing in, browsing, using Windows and various applications). I could still move the mouse freely, but typing or clicking became unresponsive. It typically lasted between 5 to 10 seconds every few minutes. Despite this, I didn’t face issues with games or when system usage was high.

I attempted many fixes without success. I changed power settings in both Windows and the NVIDIA Control Panel, ran sfc /scannow via Command Prompt, performed error checking and optimization/defragmentation, updated the BIOS, and tried numerous other solutions. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

What is the age of the PSU in your system? What is the current BIOS version for your motherboard? Please enter the RAM timings, voltage, and frequency in BIOS (D.O.C.P.), then increase the RAM voltage by 0.5v. How is the processor being cooled?

The PSU is only 2-3 years old, running BIOS version F64. It's using the stock cooler and temperatures are normal. For timing and frequency, you can experiment with the voltage.

ram speed might be the cause why i had the ryzen 5 2600 and it was a hassle with ram. i lowered my 3200mhz to 2933mhz and it resolved the problem. also verify if it recognizes the other stick—should appear in task manager (control alt delete). check performance, memory usage, whatever you're using with 16gb. if you search for it in windows search bar, system info will show total installed and available.

Both sticks are still being detected. I attempted to lower the frequency to 2933mhz, but it actually made the situation worse.

what is the cpu and gpu temperature if you're unsure? use this tool
download hwmonitor_1.52.exe | cpuid cpuid
voltages, temperatures and fan speeds monitoring
www.cpuid.com
how much hard drive space remains?

Conditions are typical. The CPU runs at 37°C, GPU at 34°C. 88 gigabytes remain on the SSD.

you need more space on the ssd, so get another one. don't want to fill it up any further; i'd just swap in another ssd and transfer all the games onto it.

I understand, I'm still seeking a solution but it seems the SSD capacity isn't the main issue. My experience was consistent regardless of available space. Thank you for the suggestion.

run a tough game while keeping the hw monitor active and playing for 30 minutes, then check the max temperature of both the cpu or gpu. also confirm that your ram is installed in slots 2 and 4 on the motherboard.
