PC becomes extremely slow during gaming after turning on DOCP?
I received a new motherboard, the Asus Rog Strix b550-f gaming, and decided to enable the DOCP profile for my RAM Corsair Vengeance Pro (2x8) 3200mhz. Everything functioned properly when I booted into Windows 11 and ran benchmarks with AIDA64. However, after a short gameplay session, the system froze abruptly—no blue or black screen, but the mouse wouldn’t move and the keyboard stopped responding. The lights stayed on. Performance varied across games, usually taking about five minutes to launch. I’m confident the RAM isn’t the issue since it worked well on my previous Aorus board. I also ran MemTest84 without errors. Everything seems fine with DOCP off, but it doesn’t work the same way.
Specs:
Mobo: Asus Rog Strix b550-f gaming (new BIOS)
CPU: i5-5600X
RAM: 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200mhz
GPU: ASUS Dual RTX 3060
Power Supply: 600W 80+Bronze (possibly upgrading soon)
Also, I’m unsure if the 5V sensor is showing incorrect readings when voltage drops below 4.5V, especially after enabling DOCP.
Ensure ram is placed in slot 2 and 4, then proceed to reflash the bios with the newest version. Install the latest amd chipset driver from amd web, set optimized, and activate the fastest xmp profile. Test the settings and timings (prefer the largest digit first):
Dram Voltage: 1.36~1.45v
SOC Voltage: 1.1~1.15v
VDDG CCD and IOD: 0.950 or 0.955v, with a maximum of 1.1v; must be -0.04v lower than SOC voltage.
VDDP: 0.945v (usually auto-adjusted).
UCLK Div1 Mode: UCLK==MemCLK
Command Rate: 2T
tCL: 18
tRCDWR and RD: 22
tRP: 22
tRAS: 42
tRC: 64
tRRDS: 4~6
tRRDL: 4~10
tFAW: 32 or 24 or 16
tWTRS: 4 or 5
tWTRL: 8~14
tWR: 16~22
tCWL: 18
tRDWR: 8
tWRRD: 3
ProcODT: 40 or 43.3 or 53.3
ClkDrvStr: 24
AddrCmdDrvStr: 24
CsOdtDrvStr: 24
CkeDrvStr: 24
Gear Down Mode: Disable
Power Down Mode: Disable
Dram Latency Enhance: Enable
Then attempt to boot. If possible, increase the frequency to 3733 max (ideal for Zen 2 CPUs), then perform a stability test using this tool.
Load config absolutnew and restart the app as admin, then observe the results. Please indicate which setting causes the most errors (take a screenshot).
Also, could you confirm the model of your Corsair sticks from the label?
Have you had any thoughts about the +5V sensor before proceeding?
Interesting... the program runs without errors yet still freezes during gameplay. Additionally, certain settings you entered didn't appear in the BIOS, such as tcl, trp, power down mode, and dram latency enchance.
on asus it is written in full form, you need to determine which matches the number. Check and align your current settings with the advanced BIOS timings, then begin testing the suggestions provided.
If you can't think of any ideas, don't worry, I know someone who works in PC services and I'll ask them for advice. Would you be okay showing them the settings I mentioned if they ask?
