PC automatically shuts down only during Netflix or Prime Video streaming (YouTube is acceptable, gaming is okay)
I'm confused by this situation... When I watch videos on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, my PC restarts without any warning or crash. The timing varies a lot—sometimes it's almost instant, other times it takes minutes or even hours. It doesn't depend on whether it's full screen or not. Usually, the restart happens right after starting a video, but sometimes it doesn't occur at all. I've tested different browsers and drivers, including the latest updates, but nothing seems to affect this behavior. It's inconsistent, which is puzzling.
I'm considering this carefully because the reboot seems unpredictable. It might be related to the XMP settings or simply a guess at first. The BIOS update wouldn't help, as it's already the same problem. Could be a temporary glitch or something in the firmware that's hard to pinpoint.
I discovered this article via a Google search and am facing a nearly identical problem. I’m unable to launch Netflix at all, just needing a full restart without any blue screens or errors. I recall being on a beta BIOS and should verify for an update. My ASUS TUF 570 Pro motherboard has a BIOS version 3001 available as of 12/3/20, along with other chipset driver updates in Armoury Shield. Updating via USB and the BIOS itself seems to have resolved my issue. I also found out that AI Suite 3 didn’t update the BIOS in Windows—it remained on the stock firmware from 8/14/20 when I tried to update today, contrary to what I expected. I’ll skip AI Suite 3 and uninstall it, then test later this evening while gaming. Hope this works for you as well.
I faced the same problem (and I suspect it applies to you as well). My BIOS is version 1004, while the newest is 1401. It's strange they kept using a similar number to an older BIOS, but it seems to be working for me. My computer has been running smoothly since then, so I hope this helps!
Interesting. It could be helpful to check the Device Manager for any alerts or missing drivers. I noticed there were driver issues for the PCIe bus, but Windows wasn’t updating them automatically. Fixing it usually involved downloading the newest chipset drivers from a motherboard site—though you might not need to do that.
I face the same issue with a different setup: X570 Aorus Pro WiFi, 5900X and Zotac 3090. All updates are current, but it still doesn’t work...
