So i removed my old PC from storage a few days ago because it wouldn’t turn on. I checked everything and eventually realized the RAM was faulty, so I replaced it. It started working after installing a new SSD and running Windows 10—it performed perfectly yesterday. However, it would cut off randomly. Right away I tried to power it back on; the fans would spin briefly before stopping if I held the power button down. Holding it also made the motherboard speaker click like a heartbeat. I unplugged everything to investigate further, thinking the problem was the PSU. Today I got a new PSU and replaced the old one. I moved the RAM around about 15 times, removed the CMOS battery and reinstalled it to reset the system. I’ve tried without any RAM, but the only changes are when I disconnect the ATX 4 connector—it works fine. But no display appears. I’ve also reset the CPU by removing it. It started up normally afterward. I’m leaning toward a faulty CPU or possibly a motherboard issue, though I’m not sure yet.
