Partition for Windows 10 Pro setup
Hello! I finished setting up my first new PC with Windows 10 Pro using a flash drive from Amazon. Once the installation was done, I saw that the C drive appeared to be split into sections, with a smaller area holding a Windows clone. Is this typical after a fresh installation?
Image of disk management shows multiple partitions as expected.
Typically, you'd have 2 to 4 partitions based on your Windows 10 installation and system setup. With a standard basic configuration, you might have more partitions if you add others. For older BIOS or UEFI setups in Legacy mode, expect 2 or 3 partitions: Windows (for files after OS installation), a System and utility partition (tools for system recovery like backup, restore, command prompt, RAM tester, Startup repair), and an optional Recovery partition. (On pre-built systems, the Recovery partition is usually included.) For UEFI, Microsoft reserved partition (MSR) is used during boot.
