We spent some weekend time together working on a custom network router. It came together with specs like an Intel Core i3 6100, 8GB DDR3, 120GB PNY SSD, and four NICs including two Intel 10GB units. We talked about the components, my choices, and what a router does. I set up PFsense and configured the APs—network was live. We reviewed everything (modem placement, switches, APs) and then enjoyed some great burritos from a nearby joint for lunch. It was a fun experience. She’s 14 and still enjoys spending time with me, which I’m trying to keep up with while sharing more knowledge. Cheers to all the dads!
