I understand that as of November 2025, Panther Lake isn't available yet. However, I'm excited about a mini PC offering the same GPU performance as AMD's Strix Halo (Radeon 8060s iGPU) but at a much lower cost. Do you think this is feasible? Honestly, Strix Halo is beyond my budget, and I'm not convinced by what Intel has said so far. What really catches my attention is Panther Lake's 1.8nm process compared to Apple Silicon's 3nm++.

It could be only a small portion of the cost if it matches or beats AMD. Intel doesn’t give away money.

I believe the standard SKUs featuring Xe3 won’t match the performance of the 8060S. That model stands out because of its quad channel memory and powerful GPU, which is quite costly. To date, there’s no indication Intel is developing a product like Strix Halo with large integrated graphics, and even if they do, prices would likely be very low to offset losses. Based on the available details, Xe3 seems... disappointing.

Intel has stated their graphics performance exceeds Lunar Lake by half. Is a 50% quicker Lunar Lake close to Strix Halo? Unlikely. Their partnership with Nvidia might bridge that gap, but it won’t appear soon. I’d estimate at least two years before it happens. It won’t be inexpensive either. Not always. When a new player enters the market, they usually focus on price or value to attract customers from bigger companies. Think about AMD’s first-generation Ryzen compared to today. It’s more about 256-bit memory since LPDDR channels differ from regular DDR. Consensus is the main chip matters. Performance feels like a low-to-mid GPU because the chips are similar in size. What do you have it compared? Their rivals will likely offer 128-bit memory solutions. So Strix Point or its successors, or something like that, will be key. Often success depends more on available bandwidth than raw processing power. I’ll need to see how they manage this.

Intel isn’t a newcomer; it’s a longstanding player in the industry. The company has previously offered faster products at reduced costs compared to its competitors.

It showed that higher quality doesn’t always come with a bigger price tag. There could still be a case for Intel on dGPUs, and mid-range CPUs are being offered at competitive rates. Panther Lake is expected to remain a premium mobile component, so this strategy likely won’t work there.

This discussion focuses on a particular component, not a broad comparison. The idea of Panther Lake being faster and cheaper than Strix Halo seems unlikely. The lower cost of the previous Lunar Lake model suggests a significant reduction in price, making it hard to justify such a change.

I hadn't realized how expensive Lunar Lake was until recent buzz around 18A began and the US government acquiring a 10% share in Intel. It's interesting to bypass the 2nm stage and jump straight to 1.8nm. My Radeon RX580 (8GB) runs on a 14nm node. I'm hoping a strong iGPU from Pather Lake could at least keep up with the RX580 or even perform slightly better. Talking about the Radeon 8060s might have been overly confident.

They’re showing strong interest in AI technology, so you shouldn’t assume cheap deals. The price listed is $1800 for an Asus Nuc 14 AI pro. While other sellers might offer better rates, I doubt anything will be significantly lower.

Attempted to locate current Strix Point specs versus RX 580 performance, but found limited reliable info. A few sources claim the RX 580 offers a slight boost, though those sites aren't fully dependable. I gave up before checking Intel's latest offerings, though they might be quicker. It's frustrating hunting gaming benchmarks for laptop chips since results often shift with other components. Also managed to locate a price estimate around $1100 for the top CPU, with lower models in stock. Focusing on Ultra 7 and Ultra 9 versions, they share the same setup except minor differences in peak clock speeds at identical power limits.
