So there aren't many photos showing how it's coming along—it took nearly a year because it was mostly a weekend task. As you see, it's still not finished. I still have some wires that need cleaning and a broken jack on the bottom patch panel, but overall it's mostly done. Everything uses CAT6, and I opted for Monoprice riser cables for all the horizontal runs. Surprisingly, they’re of better quality than other brands at the price point. Monoprice is solid copper; you’ll find similar products in Amazon or eBay, but aluminum-clad ones are less common. All the patch cables and panels are CAT6, and I have a 1Gbps link to the VDSL modem. The MikroTik is managing PPP, DHCP, NAT, and more. So far it’s been great—I’m still tweaking things to add IDS/IPS with snort integration and setting bandwidth limits. Eventually, the demarcation outside will be upgraded with a new line all the way to the DSLAM, but right now everything is running smoothly. All gear (except the consumer modem) is properly grounded, and I’ve got a dedicated ground on both DSL and cable lines. Hope you find this useful—feel free to ask if you have any questions or suggestions!
