From your guide, it seems you might be omitting or needing to reference part "H" and "break out cable."

It needs to fit onto the left side of the header—specifically the section with four pins at the top and five at the bottom. Align it precisely with the hole in the plug. If not, the case should also have a cable to separate the power switch, reset, and other components.
