I don't think it's the right place to ask for help, but I have no way to fix this myself online. Recently, after upgrading to Windows 11, I tried messing with some settings in msconfig. It looks like I set the wrong version of windows as my main boot drive. I'm not sure if that caused this problem, or is it just something else? Since then, restarting brings up only the ASUS logo and my motherboard starts cycling through colors while beeping once, which seems to mean the computer is trying to run its own check (POST). It loops forever unless I press F2 to get into the BIOS. I think I messed up the boot settings so Windows can't start from my hard drive. To fix this, I downloaded a new Windows 11 setup file onto a USB stick and tried to use it during startup, but it doesn't even show up in the BIOS options. I checked some websites for tips like turning CSM on or off, but they didn't help me at all. My PC is an old one that came from PCS a few years ago and has never had this exact problem before. I have an ASUS X570-F motherboard running BIOS version 5031. If you can give me some other advice or tell me more about the issue, please let me know because my computer right now is unusable and I need help.
When you post a question about fixing things, it helps if you tell us all your computer's details. You should list them like this: CPU, cooler for the CPU, Motherboard, RAM, Hard Drive or SSD, Graphics card (GPU), power supply unit (PSU), case, operating system, and monitor. Also tell us how old the power supply is besides its make and model. Tell us what version of your motherboard BIOS you have right now. Have you tried turning off and on again to clear your memory? I just started using Windows 11 a few days ago by upgrading from Windows 10. Does that mean you did it through the built-in method, or did you use an external USB drive? If so, re-installing the OS might help after creating a new bootable USB installer for Windows 11. I messed up a few settings in msconfig and think I set the wrong version of Windows as my default startup option. Not sure if that caused this problem but it's the only thing I can think of right now. Could you tell us more?
I have a computer with an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X processor that runs at speeds between 3.7 and 4.8 GHz. It also comes with a Corsair H115i ELITE CAPELLIX RGB Hydro Series CPU cooler, a motherboard from ASUS called the ROG STRIX X570-F GAMING, and 32GB of RAM running on DDR4 at 3600MHz. I also have two big hard drives: an 1TB SAMSUNG 980 PRO M.2 SSD and a 2TB SAMSUNG 980 PRO M.2 SSD using PCIe technology. My power supply is from CORSAIR, rated for 1000W, and it comes with the OBSIDIAN SERIES™ 500D SE CASE in a black finish. I am running Windows 11 on this setup.
My problem started back in 2021 when I bought everything. After four years of using it, my BIOS version is now 5301. Even though I haven't manually cleared the CMOS yet, I tried fixing things by restoring default settings inside the BIOS menu. I also changed my boot order on Windows 10 through the internal path in my Control Panel. At some point, I chose to start up with Windows 11 instead of Windows 10 because that seemed right at the time. I'm not sure if changing the OS caused things to go wrong, but after trying these fixes and restarting my PC, I kept getting stuck in a loop where it wouldn't turn on properly.
Got a new USB stick and successfully booted up Windows. Then I changed my boot order so it uses this drive instead of the old one. It looks like the first USB wasn't showing up at all for some reason. I guess I accidentally set the wrong default drive as I thought that was what I wanted to use. I don't know why my current boot says "Windows 10" when I actually have Windows 11 installed. Would love if someone could explain this, no matter how it happens. I'm glad I finally fixed this problem!
