I recently replaced my old hard drive with a new SSD to upgrade performance. At first, I attempted to clone the operating system from the HDD to the SSD using Acronis, but it rejected that method. Instead, I decided to clone the entire drive and then format the D: partition afterward. That approach also caused issues, resulting in strange boot errors. Eventually, I opted to format the SSD and install Windows 10 from scratch. The process succeeded, and I got a fresh OS, though my internet connection is now problematic. The machine is connected via Ethernet and claims to have internet access, but nothing loads properly. I attempted to install network drivers, but received an error about missing Intel ® adapter. After installing the chipset drivers, it worked—though not perfectly. Now, when I open a browser (only Edge is available due to installation issues), it takes a long time to load search results and hangs indefinitely, refusing to reach any pages. I can’t click links; they loop endlessly until it says “cannot reach this page.” Troubleshooting shows no errors, but the network adapter program itself reports no issues. I can ping the network successfully, suggesting connectivity is intact, yet the browser fails completely. I tried Steam and couldn’t log in or connect to the network. Could this be a driver problem? My motherboard, SSD, or HDD—could it be the issue? The CPU? I’ve reinstalled drivers multiple times, so I’m not convinced it’s a driver fault. P.S. When I faced those boot errors on both the SSD and HDD, fixing them involved formatting the EFI partition and following some bootrec steps. Any advice would be appreciated.
Do you use a dedicated ethernet adapter? Adjust your setup if needed. Suggest alternatives for storage options.
Your Ethernet card is connected directly to the motherboard without a PCIe adapter. You're able to boot from an SSD or HDD, but neither connection provides internet access. It seems you might need to check your network settings or contact your ISP for further assistance. Thanks for reaching out!
