Package execution at 20 degrees warmer than processor temperatures
I have a 9950x with a MSI Carbon motherboard and nzxt 360 water cooler. At idle, all cores are about 30 degrees, while the cooler shows 55 to 60. The HW monitor reflects that temperature. However, under light load, all cores run between 30 to 35 degrees. When I first assembled the system, the cooler showed 30 degrees at idle, now it's around 45. Is this related to airflow or should I reapply thermal paste? Thanks!

It's typical for package temperatures to be much higher than core temperatures, as the CPU is influenced by many factors beyond just the number of cores—such as memory controllers, PCIe, USB, caches, GPUs, etc.—all contributing to heat generation. Your idle and low-usage times also vary over time. Avoid relying on estimates; instead, monitor actual CPU usage, frequency, and power consumption during measurement.
