Hi, I recently played Shadow Of Mordor and discovered a HD texture pack for it. After installing it, the graphics improved noticeably. I noticed in the Steam HD Texture pack description that it needed at least 6GB of VRAM, but user comments suggested they could play without issues even with lower VRAM. When using the pack, my system reported around 5900MB to 6000+MB being used. I’m curious why Jayz2cents posted a video showing 970MB with less than 3.5GB of VRAM active. My experience is averaging about 100fps on a 1080p display, which seems normal for the game. I recently got an EVGA 980ti FTW overclocked, but haven’t done any further tuning yet.

The game demands maximum VRAM. It runs smoothly on my R9 280 3GB, but with your device’s double capacity, it fully utilizes the memory.

You're using an HD texture pack, so reviewing it alongside Shadow of Mordor is unnecessary since your setup uses significantly more GPU VRAM.

It’s suggested since the game requires that much processing power. The development method isn’t clear, but I think they aimed for a smoother frame rate rather than frequent crashes. I tested it on a 980 and it worked well, though I noticed some initial loading delays.

It seems the VRAM usage is high because both the HD texture pack and video are being processed. The frame rate you're seeing might be typical for your setup, but it's worth checking if it matches expectations.

The HD texture pack leads to stuttering when your VRAM isn’t enough—even during video playback. It runs, but the lag bothers a lot. You can still use it, though.

I've been using SoM on a 970 with the HD texture pack at 1080p, adjusting a few settings occasionally but not pushing them to their limits. Achieving 50 to 75 frames per second is possible, averaging around 58–60. Memory usage spikes up to about 3.742 during testing (hey, I captured the screen for proof 😄). That means it definitely doesn’t need 6GB of VRAM, though having more would be ideal for such a game.
