P6T Deluxe V2搭配X5675 ECC RAM吗?
I'm checking a P6T Deluxe V2 for one of my upcoming projects. I'll be pairing it with a Xeon X5675 CPU and 32GB DDR3 ECC RAM that I have on hand. The manufacturer doesn't support ECC RAM, but the CPU handles it normally. The exact model is 4x8GB-2Rx4-PC3L-10600R-9-10-E1 from Hynix. I own a dual Xeon workstation where this RAM has performed perfectly. Since I'm not using that machine, I don't need it. I've heard it won't work with registered RAM—am I correct? Could be, but thanks!
It won't work either. Consider using an unbuffered ECC version (though I'm not certain about ECC availability) or opt for the more secure non-ECC DDR3 RAM.
Only the Intel server chipsets support running the Xeon with ECC RDIMMs, or the modified Chinese boards available on Aliexpress, okay? The consumer boards require non-ECC or uncompressed ECC.
Yes, unbuffered DIMMs and registered DIMMs can often be used together in a single system.
You cannot combine different ECC types together. You need either all RDIMM or all UDIMM units. Because RDIMM compatibility is locked to specific server chipsets, they won’t fit into any setup on your present motherboard. That’s why I opted for the most affordable 12GB package I found and gave up on anything else for my Asus P6T. It cost around $60 two months back.
