I’m having trouble getting my P500A RGB fans/strip operational when the M/B D-RGB 3-pin cable is connected to the ARGB headers on my Gigabyte Z690. Both of my ARGB headers light up, but the case RGB doesn’t activate. Pressing the RGB buttons on the front panel causes random static colors instead of proper lighting. Removing the M/B D-RGB cable from the ARGB header on my motherboard makes the case RGB function correctly. The front panel controls let me switch modes and colors.

If the issue lies with the motherboard’s ARGB headers, or if the problem is with the RGB case itself, I’m unsure how to resolve it. I’ve connected four Phanteks RGB fans—three stock and one rear exhaust fan—and each is linked to a SYS_FAN header. I also used Gigabyte’s RGB Fusion software, which recognizes my ARGB headers but doesn’t affect the case RGB when changed.

If I disconnect the RGB headers from the motherboard and everything works, I can get all the RGB working. However, I’d like to know if an ARGB controller is necessary for full synchronization between the fans and the case.

They probably set up their fans and controllers using standard PWM and ARGB cables. You can remove the controller and connect it directly to the motherboard to check if the color changes. If it does, the issue is likely with the controller itself.

It seems the RGB cables are 3-pin and don’t match the 3-pin ARGB headers on your board. They link to a controller in the front panel, which then provides the M/B D-RGB 3-pin cable from there.

I quit trying. I removed the M/B D-RGB 3-pin cable from my motherboard. Now I'm relying on the built-in RGB settings for the case. Apologies to anyone searching for help.

I found a fix through a Reddit user. The system needed to be powered on and the RGB Fusion app open. I connected the M/B D-RGB 3-pin cable from the case to an ARGB header on one of my motherboards, which allowed me to control the case's RGB. Calibration in the software was essential since colors were initially mixed up. A few sync color settings didn't work well with the case RGB, but I eventually resolved it. In the end, I returned to using the default P500A RGB modes—they turned out great.
