Interesting points here. Your current OneDrive, shared with your wife, offers 5GB of free space—more than enough for your essential files. If you already have the Rpi2 available, adding another device would be straightforward and could serve as a backup or even a media hub with a suitable microSD card. Regarding your domain and private email storage, Bluehost provides cloud solutions, but whether you can use it depends on your specific plans and compliance with their terms. It’s worth checking their policies to ensure it aligns with your needs.
I don't understand the domain you're using, but I think it's suitable for generating SSL keys and hosting your Nextcloud. One of the advantages of having your own cloud server is the security it provides—your data isn't stored on a third-party HDD, and you have the flexibility to scale your storage as needed. My Nextcloud comes with a 2TB HDD, and I can expand it if required. Also, mega.nz offers 50GB of free storage.
I believe using an Rpi3 with a 64GB microSD card would work well. The main task is setting it up as a server that supports Linux, Windows, and mobile devices.
